Paying attention to the rights of citizens is subject to different opinions, including urban planners and designers. All the studies and reviews in this field are after the rights of people in different aspects of life including social and even the political characteristics. In every human society, there is a set of moral principles that appear in people's daily lives. Islam, as the main religion of Iranians, with a wholistic view of the social framework and structure and with a complete set of principles, is not exempt from this rule. Therefore, the study of citizenship rights in Islamic teachings can provide a better understanding of this concept and then develop a suitable model for using in the early stages of planning and designing cities. In this study, definitions of citizen and citizenship rights are first presented, then these definitions of citizenship rights are studied from the perspective of the Holy Qur'an, Nahj al-Balagha and Imam Sajjad (A.S.)'s al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya. Finally, based on the points presented and with the triple relationship of the city, citizen and mayor, policies to achieve the rights of Islamic societies are found.
