Scientometric Analysis of Islamic-Centered Research by Iranian Researchers: Trends, Collaborations, and Science Mapping (2014-2024 AD)
Document Type : Original Article
Abstract
Objective: This study, with a scientometric approach, examined a decade of Iranian research on the subject of Islam, indexed in the Web of Science citation database between 2014 and 2024. Methodology: The method of the present study is applied and descriptive-analytical. The statistical population of the study consists of 2,625 Iranian articles on the subject of Islam, which were indexed in the specified time period in the aforementioned database. Data analysis was also conducted based on drawing a scientific map, clustering topics, and word co-occurrence using VosViewer software. Findings: The results showed that the reviewed articles were published in 1,069 journal titles and their quantitative growth trend in the decade under study was not uniform and had significant fluctuations. Among the leading institutions, Islamic Azad University, University of Tehran, and Tehran University of Medical Sciences had the largest share in producing these articles, respectively. Iranian researchers have collaborated with 82 countries in publishing these outputs, with the United States, England, and Malaysia being the most closely involved. The scientific map revealed six main thematic clusters in Iranian Islam-centered research, including "Islamic economics," "public health," "identity and politics," "generation education," "mental health," and "architecture and environment," which reflect a holistic approach to the individual and social dimensions of human life. Conclusion: Islam, as a comprehensive intellectual-practical system, simultaneously considers the individual and collective dimensions of man, and this research shows that the scientific discourse of Iranian researchers in this field is dynamic, multifaceted, and problem-oriented; the continuation and conscious guidance of this process can increase the depth and social impact of Iranian scientific productions in the global arena of Islamic studies.
