Religious tourism is the longest lasting type of tourism in the world. Thousands of years ago, people traveled to different parts of the world to visit blessed places and perform various religious activities. In the Islamic religion, travel is also connected with pilgrimage. Pilgrimage to blessed places has a very important and prominent role in Iranian culture. Since ancient times, the city of Shiraz has played an important role in religious tourism due to the presence of large mosques and blessed places attributed to Shiite imams, as it has been considered as the third religious city of Iran. The remarkable thing about Shiraz is that this city has many attractions for religious tourism that somehow connect Iranian culture and art with Shia religious history. This issue has led to the prosperity of religious tourism in Shiraz. Considering the importance of economic and social prosperity of metropolises, in this article, the role of the holy shrine of Hazrat Ahmed bin Musa Shahcheragh (AS) in the prosperity of Shiraz city is discussed.
