Abstract
The disjointed letters in the Holy Quran have been among the controversial topics among commentators, and various opinions have been presented about them. One of the most important aspects that has played a fundamental role in the civilization and culture of human societies is the alphabet. This research has been conducted using a library study method and in a descriptive-analytical approach, aiming to clarify the issue that letters and sounds, which appear in the form of meaningful words, play an important role in the social life of humans. In fact, if humans were not able to organize sounds into letters and words (like mute individuals), they would not have the ability to speak and could not convey their intentions to others. The Holy Quran also swears by the disjointed letters in certain passages, and the definite extent of the use of these letters in the Quran indicates that, like other divine signs, they were revealed to the audience to convey a profound truth and are not meaningless. According to the findings, the most important views of commentators regarding the disjointed letters are the mystical meanings, miracle, and challenge. Examining and critiquing the commentators' views on the disjointed letters can provide an appropriate approach for better and deeper understanding of these letters in the Holy Quran.
